Robots Generate Some Buzz

ロボットの展示会、RoboNexus、がアメリカで開かれたみたいです。すごいなぁと思うのは、多くの子供が参加していること。やはり、軍事用のロボットとかも展示されていたみたいだけど、子供が興味を持ってこういう場所に行くのはすばらしいことだと思います。

以下、Segwayの発明者であるDean Kamenの言葉。

"I think it's great, because it shows you the other side, the side that the public never sees about what gets kids jazzed up if they have the opportunity and have the right kind of guidance from adults,"
"Somebody's got to be out there showing kids that there's things in life that are exciting and that they should be putting their passion into."

やはり、日本と比べて、教育の考え方がよいのかなぁと思ったりしました。日本でも、こういう展示会に子供を社会見学とかで参加させるべきだと思う今日この頃・・。日本の展示会いっても、技術者とか（カメラ小僧とかも）ばかりで。。でも、ロボットとかの話になれば子供も食いつくというところかなぁ。。

ちなみに、注目すべきはeXpeditorというロボット車を作ったチーム。チームキャプテンがなんと１５歳！！やるねぇ。。
